Father Calasanz was a man with numerous and diverse contacts. He attended four universities and belonged
to four diocesan curias. He was a achpriest and a vicar general. He participated in two reformation movements and joined five
confraternities in which he held important positions of responsibility. He lived in community with lay persons who helped
him during the first years of his teaching ministry. He had a constant and effective relationship with many religious. He
had contacts, too, with many people in the Vatican's Curia, and among his friends were "pioneers" such as the reformed Carmelites
Domingo Ruzzola and Juan of Jesus and Mary, as well as Saints Philip Neri, John Leonardi and Camillus de Lellis.
